Plywood
We have a wide choice of Plywood available suitable for all kinds of jobs and purposes, whether you are making shelves for the home or Plywood for roofing purposes we have something that will help you complete the task. Plywood is available in two main categories, firstly there is the Shuttering Ply and secondly there is the Good Ply (also known as Far Eastern). Shuttering Ply is a low-cost plywood made using WPB Glue (Water Proof Bonded). With one good face to the board Shuttering Ply is used mainly when the board will be covered or decorated as the finish is not as good quality as the Good Ply. Uses for Shuttering Ply mainly include shuttering for concrete, roofing, shelving and many more.
Good Ply is a superior choice of plywood made using WPB Glue. With excellent faces on both sides of the sheet, Good Ply has all the uses of Shuttering Ply while also being suitable for varnishing and staining. Uses for Good Ply include furniture, boxing in pipes, underneath shower trays and laying under tiles.
MDF
MDF Board or Medium Density Fibre Board given its full name, is a manufactured board designed specifically for internal use. Due to the fact that MDF is a processed board, its smooth surface and edges give the board a flawless appearance whilst still providing adequate strength. MDF is commonly found in a standard light brown colour board but we also stock MDF with a variety of veneer surface finishes including Pine, Beech, Oak, Mahogany and many more. Uses of MDF include furniture, shelving and wall panelling.
OSB / Sterling Board OSB/ Sterling Board is a manufactured compressed board designed for external use where the board is liable to the weather such as roofs, sheds and other outdoor jobs. OSB is available in 2 different type boards, the OSB 2 which is for general everyday use such as felting over on roofs and sheds. The other board available is OSB 3 which is a higher grade board suitable for use with fibre glassing on roofs. Thickness of OSB include 12mm and 18mm T + G Chipboard T + G Chipboard is moisture resistant board made with tongue and groove edges that inter-lock with each other to provide a easy to use floor board. Ideal for use in attics, bathrooms and bedrooms, T + G Chipboard will provide study, easy to install floor boards even if you are unable to fix the boards down in to support timbers such as joists. Plasterboard - See Plasterboards/Plaster Hardboard Hardboard is a light and easy to use fibre board designed for internal use. Made with one rough textured surface and one glossy surface, Hardboard is ideal for use under carpets to help level floorboards before the carpet is laid. Hardboard is also available in a White coated finish board for use such as backing panels for cupboards and boarding walls. Boards are available in 2440mm x 1220mm x 3mm sheets with smaller cut-to-size pieces available.
Wallboards Wallboards are a plywood based product with a veneer finish to one side ideal for use in boarding walls and ceilings. The light weight board is available in a wide variety of colours and finishes mostly based around wood grains such as Pine, Mahogany, Oak, Beech and many more. Viroc Viroc board is a non-flammable cement based product designed to withstand high heat temperatures. Designed for use to assist in fire protection, the flat rigid board is used in fireplaces and behind items with high temperatures such as cookers.
